Life & Death
The very first words of the first reading jump out at us as we read, ‘God did not make death.’ and as we read further, ‘For God formed man to be imperishable; the image of His own nature He made him, but by the envy of the devil, death entered the world.’ In the Alleluia verse we will hear, ‘Our Savior Jesus Christ destroyed death and brought life through the Gospel.’ Jesus, by His death, has paid the price of all sin for those who believe in Him so all those who die with faith in His Salvation are not dead but truly alive. Those who have not turned to Him in faith will die also and live forever in an eternity of self hate and torment. There is no escape for those who think death is the end; it is only the beginning of an eternal life for them. We will all live forever and ever, with or without God. One life is in heaven the other is in hell. Now is the time to choose where you want to spend it. Nobody knows the hour nor the day they will die.

Today reach out to Jesus in faith and touch the hem of His garment like the women in today’s Gospel. He is God in the flesh and the mere touch of faith will draw healing love, mercy and power from His Sacred Heart for all those who truly believe in Him. The woman in the Gospel was instantly healed of her blood condition and the dead child of the synagogue official was brought back to life. Those of us who have wept over a dead mother, father; son or daughter; brother or sister, husband, wife or friend, need to hear the words of Jesus this week and be touched by them .Jesus says, “Why this commotion and weeping? The child is not dead but asleep.” Take comfort in the knowledge that your loved ones are not dead either.
Are you ready to meet your God? If not, go to confession and return to the sacraments, I you wish to live forever in heaven.
